Signs of Sleep Apnea

These are some of the main symptoms that you or your partner can look out for to determine if you have sleep apnea:

  • Loud snoring
  • Choking or gasping during sleep
  • Multiple long pauses in breathing
  • Sleepiness during the day
  • Waking up with a dry mouth, sore throat, or feeling out of breath
  • Headaches in the morning
  • Restless sleep – tossing and turning
  • Insomnia

  • Difficulty focusing during the day
  • Irritability or depression

Pre-existing Factors

You may also be more at risk of developing sleep apnea if you have one of the following conditions. If you fit into these categories and have been experiencing the above symptoms, it may be a sign that you have sleep apnea.

  • Use of narcotics
  • Use of nicotine products
