Sleep Test

The ResMed ApneaLink Air is a small, take-home test that can track heart rate, oxygen levels, and the effects of obstructive sleep apnea and snoring. Although this is not a diagnosis for sleep disorders, it is an effective tool to help determine whether you might have sleep apnea or other sleep disorders.

How Does it Work?

Your test kit will come in a small travel bag that includes the device, an unopened, disposable nasal cannula, and a set of AAA batters. The device will have been sanitized and programmed with your information prior to your appointment.

To set up the device at home, start by connecting a small recording device to the belt and strap the belt on the outside of your clothes at the middle of your chest. This recorder includes a port to attach the nasal cannula, a small tube with two prongs that sit just inside the nose to deliver oxygen. Insert the connector end into the device and twist it clockwise until secure. You will then connect the sensor and oxygen monitor to the other end of the recorder, likewise, turning clockwise until secure. You will then place your index finger of either hand into the sensor or use a different finger if it is uncomfortable.

With the belt snuggly secured to your chest, press and hold the power button in the center of the device until the green light turns on. You will know if the sensor, cannula, or oxygen monitor is not attached properly if the device shows a red blinking light.

After your test, you will return it to our office for your follow-up appointment. The results of your test will be discussed and a treatment plan will be set up with Dr. Wilk.

This is an extremely well-organized office. You can tell that everyone acts as a team. Paperwork is prepared in advance. The dental technician is well trained and explains each procedure before she does it. It is obvious that the practice is the state of the art. Follow on appointments are made without delay. Doctor Wilk explains in detail the various options and allows you to make the best choice. I’m looking forward to the next appointment.

I was using a CPAP machine( which was very cumbersome ), until I visited Dr. Wilk two years ago, he fit me with a mouth appliance to substitute the CPAP machine. I was very skeptical at the beginning but it worked great with no discomfort, now I sleep and feel better, and when I travel I just take a small mouth guard case, so much more convenient. I highly recommend Dr. Wilk for his services, he and his staff are very professional and also very nice.

Dr. Wilk and his staff are very professional and “cutting edge” in their field. My examination was more thorough than any I had had before, and the care I received was excellent. In addition to regular dental work, I had veneers done. They have changed my smile, whitened my teeth, and greatly improved my self-confidence. I would recommend this practice to anyone looking for exceptional dental care.
